The National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the most established, largest, and widely recognized cocurricular organizations for high school students in the United States, boasting a membership of 1.4 million. The NHS aims to foster enthusiasm for scholarship, acknowledge exceptional students, encourage a commitment to service, promote leadership, and cultivate strong character among secondary school students.
Each spring, students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher are reviewed, and qualified individuals are invited to join Nestucca's Chapter of the National Honor Society. Those who receive an invitation must complete an application process, which includes submitting letters of recommendation, a transcript, and a résumé. These application packets are carefully reviewed, and selected candidates are inducted into the society during a formal ceremony.
All kids should feel safe and be safe at school. SafeOregon gives kids, parents, schools, and their communities a way to report safety threats or potential acts of violence confidentially or anonymously with a simple phone call, text, email or by using the web form or mobile app.
The student council helps share ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and institute administrative authorities. It also helps raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need and school reform. Most schools participate in food drives, fundraisers and parties. Many members learn skills that were an extension of their formal education.
